The Group believes that talking about the experience of hearing voices can really help. Communicating helps us accept the voices, improves our self-confidence and frees us from isolation. Mutual communication helps us share the experience and learn from one another.
Our purpose is to provide contact and support for all voice hearers and give opportunity for those who cope well with the experience to help and encourage those who are struggling.
Hearing voices can at times make you feel that you are dealing with another world that overwhelms you and blots out your power to reason preventing you from getting on with everyday life, at times becoming a frightening and confusing experience.
People hearing voices often at first think they are alone in doing so, which causes anxiety and sometimes feelings that they are going mad. They may avoid situations such as the supermarket and normal gatherings. This response restricts freedom and natural development.
