Seasons

By David Beck

The rain comes down from a sky of grey
With tools in hand I step out to the day

From out of store plants and bulbs I bring
Longing for sunshine I think of spring

With Hand and trowel I turn the muddy soil
Mindful of the future from this season's toil

In autumn gusts the leaves are cast
Memories fade of summer since passed

The winter wind will begin soon to blow
And the garden hid neath a blanket of snow

As the chill season ages the winter winds mellow
Ere crocus buds blossom in purple and yellow

Lengthening days bring the daffodil flowers
The garden responds to gentle spring showers

Soon summer returns in her effulgent glory
And colour and warmth proclaim natures story.
